Out of School Care in the Garden
On 2nd June 2009, Narryna was visited by the children of the Waimea Heights Out of School Care group. After a scavenger hunt around the museum the student donated their time to planting some plants in the newly cleared area at the back of Narryna. Thank you to Waimea Heights out of School Care group and Lipscombe Child Care Centre for their support!

Great Success at Working Bee
Well, the day started of cold and windy, but we did reach our 26 degrees! Thank you to all the members and staff that attended the working bee. The day was an enormous success and the work that was completed was well beyond what any of us had hoped to achieve. It was not just a day of hard work but also one of a social nature that I hope all of you enjoyed. Below is a list of the things achieved on the day:
On behalf of the governing bodies of Narryna and myself, I would like to thank everyone who participated in the working bee, and those who provided food for the day. It was quite a big and delicious feast! We are grateful for all the work you carried out!

WORKING BEE SATURDAY 28TH MARCH 10am TO 3pm
Dear all Members and Staff at Narryna,
On the 28th March Narryna will be holding a WORKING BEE. This will be held in the gardens of Narryna, as we would like to really spruce the place up so that it is a more special and attractive place for yourselves and our numerous visitors. If you are interested in participating in the working bee, please write or phone Samuel Dix at Narryna before the 28th March with your RSVP.
We will start work at 10am on Saturday the 28th March and finish around 2 or 3 pm in the afternoon. As we will be working outside, please make sure you bring a hat and sunscreen and appropriate clothing for gardening. Please make allowances for bad weather, as we all know what Tasmania's weather can be like! In the case of extremely bad weather (i.e. raining or worse) you will be notified as soon as possible if cancelled. If you could also provide your own gardening tools, as we have a very limited supply of our own, it would be much appreciated. Here is a list of what you may need:
Gardening gloves
Small digging tools
Brooms and rakes
Kneeling pads
Sturdy footwear
Narryna will provide cold refreshments to sustain you through the hard work you will be doing! Family and friends are welcome, but the museum manager must be notified before the start date for catering purposes. The main focus of the day will be cleaning and gardening. The back garden needs a lot of attention, but the front garden also needs a little clean up. Members of the Camellia Society may also be in attendance to talk about our Camellia garden. Your input for future garden development would be appreciated. I hope you can come!
